Momma says: the series is however annoying to me because of the nonsense well-nigh wind being able to blow ghosts away, and ghosts being able to shrink, stretch, and grow. It'southward also dumb that the ghosts 'swim' through the air instead of bladder. And it withal makes no sense that Kaz doesn't know what things similar kitchens and phones are. I recollect this serial is lame but Eleanor loves it so I'll keep reading it. And she does continue reminding me that it'due south a kids' book 🤣Eleanor says: I liked this book and I have to go on reminding my mom that information technology is a kids book for when things don't brand sense. I liked when they found Kaz's canis familiaris.

Questions:

Another adorable, fun risk. This one is a bit spooky with a squeamish mystery to solve. Dandy follow up to the outset volume. It continues the story, providing new mysteries and development of the overall plot, while withal leaving some open ends to exist discovered throughout the residual of the serial.

It continues the story, providing new mysteries and development of the overall plot, while still leaving some open ends to exist discovered throughout the residuum of the series.
The mystery itself was well done. Butler provides enough details (and Damant fifty-fifty slips a few in the illustrations) that readers can follow along and try to figure out who's behind the mysterious happenings. I tend to dislike mysteries where the writer makes the reader dependent on them to solve the mystery. It's so much more fun to examine the clues and try to see where it'south going. This one has a few twists and turns, but provides a manageable mystery for readers to try to keep upwards with.
Such a slap-up idea for a series. Definitely enjoying information technology so far and am excited to read the side by side book.

Besides, they discover that Kaz is able to travel outside of the library, as long as he rides in Claire's h2o bottle, a la I Dream of Jeanie. I love this series--I'm growing especially fond of Grandma Karen, the kindly librarian with the pinkish stripe in her hair who eventually fesses upwards that she was able to see ghosts equally a immature daughter.

Though filled with ghosties, there's null scary or frightening about this series; information technology's pure fun! With simple dialogue, easily followed storylines, age appropriate vocabulary and humor, these books are great for elementary school aged readers.
With plenty of rooms for haunting and places for mysteries to lurk, there'due south something so magical and exciting, nonetheless comforting, about the library setting. A Cheerful, Light-Hearted Friendship TaleClaire lives with her Mom and Dad and Grandmother above the town library. Claire tin can meet ghosts, including the ghosts who inhabit the library. A young male child ghost, Kaz, who became separated from his ghost family when their haunt was torn down, has taken up residence in the library and has get Claire's best friend. They have formed the C & K Ghost Detective Bureau. There are now iii books in the Haunted Library serial, (of which this is the second). Each book is congenital around a ghost hunting mystery, and the series is tied together by Claire and Kaz's friendship and by Kaz'southward search for his missing family.
Heavily illustrated, the books are slightly advanced chapter books. The mysteries are straightforward and there is no scary stuff. This is pure "Casper the Friendly Ghost" territory. At that place aren't any villains and the most threatening ghosts are just, at well-nigh, grumpy.
That said, Claire is a pretty well constructed character for a chapter book heroine, and the human relationship between the 2 kids is realistic and appealing. The mystery here, (is there a ghost in the neighbor'southward attic?), is pretty challenging for a chapter book in that there are clues, Claire does a lot of logical thinking and reasoning, and there are even a few red herrings. Even at this level I retrieve mysteries should exist solved in traditional fashion, and non through hunches and coincidences, and this book honors all of the mystery conventions.
And then, with appealing characters, a fun ghost angle, a scrap of mystery, a disarming friendship, and a light and cheerful experience, this is a nice chapter book find.
Delight note that I found this book while browsing my local library's Kindle ebook goodies. I accept no connexion at all to either the author or the publisher of this book.
...moreI didn't star this because the author is a friend, but this is such a fun serial for kids. I beloved how they figured how to transport Kaz (in a h2o canteen, because he can shrink downwardly), and how the story e'er stays true to its inner logic. There are lots of crimson herrings in this ane, and the solution to the ghost in the attic is completely conceivable. And in that location's a twist in the cease involving Claire's family, simply I won't give it abroad!
