Emmett and Bay met each other in This Is Not a Pipe, when Emmett picked upward Daphne from the Kennish house.

They started hanging out as friends in The Persistence of Retention, where Emmett helped Bay discover who her biological father actually is.

In The Stag Chase, Emmett continued helping Bay to observe her male parent and even goes as far every bit going with her and Daphne to the dark club where they thought he worked. Daphne grows suspicious and asks him if anything was going on between the ii of them. He starts to question her relationship with Bay and breaks up with her after he realizes the advice barriers they have ahead of them. In Starry Dark, Bay is annoyed when Daphne joins Emmett in the Guitar Face festival. She decides to go besides, but she doesn't understand why Emmett doesn't want her help defending himself and he doesn't like her using his deafness every bit a defense force.
